Genetically modified food production definition: According to the World Health Organization, Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) can be defined as organisms (i.e. plants, animals or microorganisms) in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally by mating and/or natural recombination. Genetically modified food definition: Genetically modified food is a source of great controversy, yet most of us are eating it every day. If you cook with canola oil, snack on biscuits and chocolates, drink soy milk or eat tofu, you re probably tucking into â€Å"Franken food†. Genetically modified food are imported from other country’s to Australia, for example imported soya, soya is a protein bean from an Asian plant its used as an replacement for animal protein in certain foods for example it’s in chocolate, potato chips, margarine, mayonnaise and all sorts of salad dressings. Imported corn can be found in foods like bread, your breakfast cereals, corn chips, gravy mixes, corn oil, corn flour and corn syrup. Imported sugar beet, sugar beet is a large beet with white roots that is grown as a source of sugar; this is used for all sugar produce.
